In diesem Jahr hatten wir die Gelegenheit, nahezu alle Tage auf der MAKS zu verweilen. Somit konnten wir die interessanten Maschinen bei guten Wetter fotografieren. Zu den Besuchertagen trübte sich der Himmel leider mehr und mehr ein.

Die MAKS feierte in diesem Jahr den 50. Jahrestag des ersten bemannten Weltraumfluges von Juri Gagarin. Gerade im Bereich der Weltraumfahrt bestätigte Russland seine aktuelle Führungsrolle. In den Hallen wurde eine breite Palette aus Historie und Zukunft der Weltraumfahrt geboten und die Zahl an neuen Raketentypen und Weltraumkapseln war kaum überschaubar.

Aber auch in der elektronischen Kriegsführung (Jammer, Detektoren für anfliegende Geschosse, Pods zur Generierung von Phantom-Flugzeuge etc.) und bei integrierten Systemen zur Luftverteidigung hat Russland technologisch mächtig aufgeholt. Via HDTV-Videos wurde vorgeführt, wie ein virtueller Angreifer, der mit modernster amerikanischer Technik ausgerüstet war, regelrecht zusammengeschossen wurde.

Bzgl. der Fotomöglichkeiten gab es einige Neuigkeiten. Der Balkon am Tower ist nun nicht mehr begehbar und komplett gesperrt. Als Alternative kann nun eine Tribüne auf der Gegenseite (Start & Landung bei Licht im Rücken) für 70 Euro bzw. 250 Euro (Presse/Nicht-Presse) genutzt werden. Am ersten (Presse)-Tag war die Tribüne noch kostenfrei. Das Flugprogramm war allerdings noch eingeschränkt, da man die Premieren für den Regierungschef Putin vorhalten wollte. So wurde am zweiten Tag einfach das ganze Fluprogramm abgesagt und explizit Putin nachmittags mit einer Indivuidial-Airshow beglückt. Hier erfolgte schliesslich auch die Premiere des neuen Stealt-Jägers - der Suchoi T-50 gleich mit zwei Maschinen. An den Folgetagen wurde wieder das volle Programm gezeigt. Da sich die Beteiligung ausländischer Teams und Displays in Grenzen hielt, hatten wir somit den Vorteil, das alle russischen Teams vorgeführt wurden.

An Teams wurden die Russian Knights, die Strischi, die Russian Falcons, das Russ-Team, die Baltic Bees vorgestellt. Suchoi präsentierte die Su-34, Su-35 und die T-50 jeweils in Formation und solo. Während sonst Prototypen bei Premieren nur sehr zaghaft vorgeführt werden, hielt sich hier Suchoi nicht zurück und demonstrierte auch gleich die Wendigkeit des neuen Stealth-Fighters. Mikojan war mit einer Luftbetankungsdemo eines Mig-29 Tanker und einer Mig-35 vertreten, die dann im Solo weiter flog. Die Mig-29 OVT erreichte leider nicht die Qualität ihrer Vorführungen vor vier Jahren und plagte sich mit Triebwerksproblemen. Merkwürdig war die Unterbrechung der laufenden Displays für Probeflügen von Prototypen. So mussten die Displayteams warten, bis jeweils eine Mig-29 der indischen Marine mit allerlei Sonderaustattungen wie z.B. Luft-Schiff-Raketen den Platz verlies. Vielleicht sollte auch damit demonstriert werden, das die Rüstungsindustrie in Schukowski voll im Saft steht.

Die Hubschrauber-Industrie trumpfte mit einer Riesenformation aller aktuellen Heli-Modelle von Mil, Kamov und Kasan auf, die dann jeweils Einzeldisplays der Muster boten. Herausragend war dabei die Mi-26. Es war beeindruckend, zu welchen Manövern der grösste Helicopter der Welt fähig ist. Kurzweilig waren auch die kombinierten Anti-Terror-Vorführung von Polizei und Militär, bei denen unter dem Schutz einer Mi-28 Havoc und einer Ka-52 Aligator die Mi-17 der Polizei eine Spezialeinheit absetzte, die mit allerlei Pyrotechnik für "Ordnung" sorgte.

Das Ausland war militärisch durch die USA mit einem grossen Staticdisplay verteten. Die F-15-Demo flog hier zur MAKS etwas agressiver als im Heimatland. Dem stand Frankreich mit Rafale in Nichts nach.

Aber auch der zivile Bereich kam nicht zu kurz. An den ersten beiden Tagen konnte man noch den Dreamliner von Boeing bewundern. Eine Airbus A380 wurde regelmässig in der Luft vorgeführt. Zudem wurden mehrere Varianten des Suchoi 100 Superjets, der An-158 und Tu-204 geflogen. Inbesondere die Vorführung der Tu-204 Open Scies, einer speziell umgebauten Maschine zur Überwachung der Einhaltung von Massnahmen zur Rüstungskontrolle, hatte Seltenheitswert. Schon bekannt, aber jederzeit wieder sehenswert war die Berejew 200 beim Wasserabwurf.

Kurzum, es war eine Top-Veranstaltung mit zahlreichen Exoten und die Reise absolut wert.
